Chris didn't have a lot of time to waste with concussions. High school is a time of exploration and Chris used that time fully as his high school year book attests. His senior caption reads: "Chris enjoyed playing football and guitar and entertaining us in three school shows. After a year's leave at Ridley, he returned to Oakridge this year to tackle geography, history and math. C.J., may your spontaneous mind bring you much luck and love in the future!" Popular with his classmates, active in a number of competitive sports, acting in the school and community theaters, performing as a musician, was there anything he didn't do? "School," he confesses with a wry smile. "I knew I had to do well...but it was hard. My mind was always elsewhere."

In between his sports and theater activities, Chris used his musical talents to slake his equally strong entrepreneurial urges. Chris contains the rare mix of creative talent wedded to a sound financial mind. Always one to seize the initiative, on and off the field, Chris successfully produced with teammates, classmates and his brother shows, dances, and concerts for profit. He often combined his natural charm and ingenuity to limit production costs by borrowing available resources and, as well as providing cash flow, these business ventures provided opportunities for him to perform as a musician. Throughout school, Chris was drummer, guitarist and lead vocalist in a number of bands with typical 70's names like Midnight and Diamond Hitch.
