How To Work The Process of Embracing The Dance of Independence
Welcome to Embracing The Dance of Independence! This unique 4-CD set offers a 12-session process that will lead you on an inner journey. This can be a very rich, productive and healing learning adventure for you. This practice and discipline have worked for many other parents of teens, who have described it as an empowering, comforting, confidence-building and even transformative process. This process will work for you too if you work the process.
The 4 CDs are organized into 12 sessions. The first is an introduction, and the second is an exercise to help you learn to relax deeply. Many parents have found that being in a relaxed state helps them to open their minds and hearts and receive optimal benefits from each exercise. Take as long as you need to complete each session. Find the pace that feels right for you. Sometimes you may want to listen to an exercise several times before you feel ready to move on. Do listen to the sessions in their recorded sequence.
Find a quiet, comfortable and peaceful place where you can relax. While many parents learn best in a focused closed-eye state, others prefer to listen to the sessions while engaged in repetitive tasks (e.g. housework, driving, crafts, etc.) If you choose this way, take appropriate measures to assure your safety. Do whatever works to give yourself uninterrupted time with each session.
Finally, journal if you choose to enhance and enrich your process by writing about the feelings and thoughts you experience during each session. Suggested questions and exercises are set forth on the table of contents. Most parents report that journaling becomes a very valuable and productive part of each session. Some parents have reaped rich rewards by listening to these CDs and working this process together with other parents of teens.
When you complete and emerge from this process, notice the changes you feel. Many parents experience more comfort, confidence and success with both their teen and with their parental role, as well as improved awareness, understanding, acceptance and appreciation. Cautionary note: these CDs are designed for reasonably healthy and functional parents with reasonably healthy and functional teens. If you or your teen suffers from severe behavioral or emotional disturbances, then this product and process may not be as productive for you, and you are encouraged to seek assistance from your physician or mental health professional. Also, if you find that some of the content brings up strong feelings, you may want to consider seeking counseling. Finally, some adolescents with certain behavioral or mental health conditions require strict, consistent and inflexible boundaries and limits. If this is the case with your teen, please continue to follow the advice of your medical team or teachers.
